Tips for removing Art stains from clothing:

- Oil Paint & Oil Pastel: I use something found in the cleaning products aisle called Greased Lightning, which allowed me to get red oil paint out of white clothing. Spray it on the affected area, scrub with the nozzle or coarse brush, rinse, and repeat until the affected area has significantly faded or vanished. Wash the fabric and check before drying.
- Acrylic Paint: Scrape off the excess paint (sometimes a Brillo pad or wire brush will do this very well - just be careful to avoid tearing or damaging the fabric). Rinse the affected area, trying to flush from the back of the stain first. Treat with bleach-free dishwashing soap (like Dawn) and water - blot, scrub, rinse, and repeat as necessary. Treat the area with your choice of stain remover. Wash the fabric and check the area before drying.
- Watercolor Paint: This paint is heavily water-based and will re-constitute with moisture. Rinse the area from the back of the stain first. Blot and then scrub with bleach-free dishwashing liquid (like Dawn). Stain-treat with your choice of product and wash the fabric. Check the area before drying.
- Ink / Marker: This is very difficult to remove, and treatment may only fade the stain. Use nail polish remover (acetone-free, but this may damage fabric) or isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. Hold a few paper towels behind the affected area to catch what soaks through and blot with rubbing alcohol. Depedning on the stain, you might have to frequently change the paper towel and what you are blotting the stain with so as to not reapply the ink to the fabric. I have heard hairspray and hand sanitizer work, too. Wash the fabric but always check the affected area before drying because ink stains will set in permanently.
- Clay: Scrape/brush of excess clay and stain treat with your choice product. This is basically dirt/mud, so it will wash out easily. Wash it normally and check the area before drying.
- Chalk Pastel: Remove as much pastel as possible with rinsing first. Blot the stain with rubbing alcohol (holding a paper towel behind the area you're blotting so it does not soak through). Scrub/wash the affected area with a small amount of laundry soap and water until the pastel is gone. Wash the fabric and check the are before drying.
